The Excelsior Program is in its second year in the Mathematics Department at Bridgehampton High School. The Excelsior Program is a co-enrollment opportunity through Suffolk County Community College where students take accredited college level courses offered at their high schools at vastly discounted rates. By the end of the course, students can earn 4 credits in Calculus I or 4 credits in Pre-Calculus and are given official transcripts from SCCC. Students can take their transcripts and potentially transfer credits to colleges of their choice. This year’s enrollees are Amoy Webley and Milo Youngerman in Pre-Calculus and Claudia Patterson, Jonathan DeGroot, and Autumn Street in Calculus. Since this is the second year for our current calculus students, upon successful completion they will be leaving with 8 credits in math alone under their belts. Not the only college level program offered at Bridgehampton Schools, students are also able to take classes in Virtual Enterprise and College Accounting through Farmingdale University as well as several AP courses in the Language Arts, History and Sciences. Such programs are expected to continue to grow and include other subjects in the near future.
Thank You Mrs. Sharp
