Prior to this debate, students constructed an evidence-based argument responding to the compelling question, “What is the real cost of bananas?” They selected one of the following argument statements:

1. The practices of the banana industry are harmful to small Latin American farmers and exploit children.

2. The practices of banana industry are actually helpful to child workers who earn money for their families and benefit small Latin American farmers.

Students prepared for the debate by creating three reasons and nine, strong supporting facts. The photo shows students presenting their arguments.

Jalyn Hopson, a senior, visited the Spanish 7 class on Thursday, December 7th to review the verbs they recently studied. She asked questions related to verb meanings and pointed out conjugations. She also shared her plans for becoming a police officer and encouraged them to set goals.

Some of the Bridgehampton students and staff participated in the geothermal system information session with the engineer, construction supervisor, and construction contractor. Our students were able to ask and learn about geothermal energy, Long Island, and New York soil & water conditions, effects of hurricane on the soil and water, mechanical engineering, career opportunities, as well as the new construction project.
