ABOUT US

The Coltrane Student Success Center houses the academic services for writing consultation and tutoring for students on campus. Writing consultants and Tutors are a team of students from varying disciplines and majors who are trained on how to work well with students in their quest to strengthen their knowledge and skills. They are not professors; their job is to support students in these sessions, not grade them. 

Writing consultants and tutors can’t do everything at once, so each student should expect to have a maximum of 30-minutes per session. The priority is not perfection but improvement. Writing consultants and tutors will collaborate with students to improve with each session, one step at a time.

Students: We understand that it can be stressful to share your ideas and your understanding of certain subjects. Trust us—we’ve all been there. Our writing consultants and tutors will spend time getting to know you and will give you another person’s non-judgmental perspective. It can be incredibly helpful just to see how your work reads to someone else. Worry not about anyone's perception or judgement, we are here to help you with your academic needs in the most professional and caring way possible.
