Jonathon Knopfel

Mr. Knopfel is currently an assistant band director for the Bartlesville, Oklahoma Independent School District and is excited to begin his seventh year of teaching in Oklahoma. In addition to his time in Bartlesville, He has previously held instrumental music positions with Edmond North High School and Blackwell Public Schools and was recognized by Blackwell Public Schools as the 2014-2015 District Teacher of the Year.

His current teaching responsibilities include beginning woodwind classes, co-teaching the Madison Middle School 7th and 8th grade bands, and assisting with the Bartlesville High School Wind Symphony and the Bruin Brigade Marching Band. Outside of his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Knopfel maintains a private flute studio, works as a chamber musician performing with regional choirs, community and church groups, and is a loving pet owner to a cat, a Scottish terrier and a green iguana.

Mr. Knopfel’s professional teaching affiliations include Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmaster’s Association, and the Northeast Oklahoma Band Directors Association. Mr. Knopfel is a National Board Certificated Teacher(2017) and holds both a Bachelor of Music Education(2011) and a Bachelor of Science(2007) from Oklahoma State University.
