July 23, 2021 UPDATE

The Kentucky Department of Public Health (KDPH) issued some guidance last week about the reopening of schools this fall. We have discussed this guidance with the board and the district leadership team. It is our intention to follow this guidance unless/until new guidance is issued. Highlights include:

  • Encourage teachers, staff, students ages 12 and up, and family members to get vaccinated.

  • Require masks for all persons (vaccinated and unvaccinated) on school buses.

  • Recommend (not require) masks for unvaccinated persons while indoors in all classroom and non-classroom settings, unless otherwise exempted.

  • Recommend (not require) physical distancing of at least 3 feet between K-12 students in classrooms where not everyone is fully vaccinated.

  • Work with the local health department to facilitate case investigation and contact tracing.

  • Continue to practice safety protocols, including disinfecting, hand washing, etc.

The document can be viewed in its entirety here.

IMPORTANT: Please understand that if, at any point, case numbers increase to a level that negatively impacts instruction and/or the health and safety of students and staff, we may choose to mandate the wearing of masks (for all persons, vaccinated and unvaccinated), among other precautions.

Based on the KDPH document, we have modified the Boyle County Schools 21-22 Back to School Plan and the Communicable Illness Intervention Plan. These documents will be shared in the coming days.

While we are hopeful this school year is much closer to normal than last, we must remain diligent during these uncertain times. We are still in a pandemic, and we will continue to work with the Kentucky Department of Public Health, the Kentucky Department of Education and the local health department to keep our staff, students and families safe and healthy.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.

May 14, 2021 UPDATE

The Governor has issued an Executive Order following up on his comments from yesterday afternoon. Masks are still required in schools.

The Order reads (see #5): Any person in a K-12 educational, preschool, daycare or other childcare setting, including any student, employee, staff member or visitor, shall wear a face covering.

Boyle County Schools will continue to follow this guidance as we have. If/when things change, we will share that information.

Thank you for your continued cooperation! We're almost there!

May 13, 2021 UPDATE

The CDC released some updates regarding COVID-19 guidelines this afternoon. While these changes are promising, we will continue with our current guidelines until we hear more from the Governor’s Office and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE). As soon as we hear how these updates affect schools, we will share that information.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
