Band is a rigorous, full year course concentrating on the continued development of fundamental wind and percussion skills. The rehearsal and performance schedules are demanding, including outside-of-school practices, football games, pep rallies, contests, sectionals, and concerts. Participating in fall marching band allows students to earn ½ credit of the required P.E. credit. Students enrolling in any band course are required to participate in marching band. Special exceptions to this may only be considered in extenuating health related circumstances and must be discussed directly with the program director and campus principal or their designee for consideration. A balanced focus on both individual and ensemble development occurs throughout both semesters during each year.
