Advanced Studio Art is an advanced high school art course that builds on the skills and experiences students learned in previous art classes. It's designed for students who are serious about art and want to improve their artistic abilities.
Topics
Design processes: Students explore a variety of design techniques and compositional concepts
Mark-making: Students develop their drawing skills and use a variety of mediums
Critical evaluation: Students analyze their own work and the work of others to develop critical thinking skills
Career exploration: Students learn about art careers and job opportunities through field trips, guest speakers, and other experiences
Historical and contemporary styles: Students compare and contrast different styles to identify themes and trends
Students work on individualized assignments and problem-solving through the development of a portfolio, Advanced Studio Art is usually intended for students who have completed Art I, Drawing & Painting, and/or Sculpture.
