This course is made up of two semesters of college-level courses: ENGL 1301 in the fall and ENGL 1302 in the spring.  It comprises the study of and practice in writing processes, from invention and researching to  drafting, revising, and editing, both individually and collaboratively. Emphasis is on effective rhetorical choices, including audience, purpose, arrangement, and style. Students will focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning, communicating, and critical  analysis. Prior to enrollment, students must meet TSI college-readiness standards for Reading and Writing. These courses will fulfill credit requirements for English III and is necessary for Juniors intending to take ENGL 2322 and ENGL 2323 in the senior year. If a student is unsuccessful in the 1301 course, they will not be allowed to continue on to 1302.
