About Emily Miranda

Emily Miranda

I have been married to my husband Jaime since 2018. We have the sweetest 11 month old daughter named Ramona and a two year-old corgi pup named Eliza. Jaime works at MOC-FV as an intervention specialist and coaches wrestling. In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks with my baby girl and spending time with family. I love being artistic and creative as well as watching and listening to others do the same.

Educational Background:

I am a 2014 graduate of MOC-Floyd Valley. In 2018, I graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in English and Secondary Education as well as endorsements in coaching and teaching English as a second language.

Teaching Experience:

In 2018-2019, I taught 7th grade language arts and coached freshman volleyball at Sioux Center. After that school year, I moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina, to live with my husband. I taught junior and senior English at Northside High School for the fall semester of 2019 before my husband’s duty station changed. In January, we moved to Washington DC, and I found a job teaching middle and high school English and wellness at a private school called Fusion Academy. I taught for the fall semester of 2020 and throughout the summer. During that time, we were expecting our first child, and I decided to stay home with her for the past year due to the high expense of child care in the DC area. I'm excited to be teaching again here at Boyden-Hull!

Current Teaching Assignment:

This year, I will teach 8th grade language arts, 9th English, and tech prep.

Other Extra Curricular Duties:

I will be coaching freshman volleyball and the assistant individual speech coach.
