Teaching

Current courses at RMIT:

At RMIT University, I am currently teaching BUIL 1243 - Production Planning and Management (class size: ~100 students; course coordinator and lecturer role) as well as BUIL1245 - Construction Planning and Design I (class size: ~210 students; lecturer role) and BUIL 1319 - Global Built Environment Study Tour (class size: ~35 students; course coordinator and lecturer role) where we took the students to site visits in Dubai and London.

I am also supervising students in their undergraduate (honours) research projects.

Past courses at RMIT:

In the past, I used to teach the following undergraduate courses for Construction Management at the RMIT University:

BUIL 1243 - Production Planning and Management (class size: ~100 students; coordinated and taught in S1-2011, S1-2012, S1-2013, S1-2014)

BUIL 1227 - Introduction to Construction Processes (class size: ~210 students; coordinated and taught in S2-2013, S2-2014, S1-2015)

BUIL 1245 - Construction Planning and Design I (class size: ~80 students; coordinated and taught in S2-2012 and S2-2013; taught in S2-2015).

BUIL 1319 - Global Built Environment Study Tour (class size: ~35 students; lecturer role in S2-2013 (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong))

BUIL 1156 - Project Administration (class size: ~80 students; coordinated and taught in S1-2012; then discontinued due to new program roll-out)

BUIL 1136 - Construction Management (class size: 130-180 students; coordinated and taught in S2-2009,S2-2010; then discontinued due to new program roll-out)

BUIL 1216 - Human Relations and Occupational Health and Safety (class size: 160-200 students; coordinated and taught in S1-2010, S1-2011; then discontinued due to new program roll-out)

BUIL 1215 - Research Project - supervised undergraduate research projects from 2011 to 2015.

Past courses for RMIT University at the Singapore Institute of Management:

I also have experience with offshore teaching for RMIT University at the Singapore Institute of Management. Courses I taught in Singapore include:

BUIL1138SIM - Construction Management (class size: ~40 students; taught in S1-2012)

Past courses at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign:

At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) I used to teach Construction Cost Estimating and Analysis (CEE 422), which was an undergraduate and graduate course. (typical class size: 45-60 students)

At UIUC I also developed a special interest course for graduate students, which was called Construction Data and Process Modeling (CEE 598 CDM), with invaluable input provided by my former Ph.D. advisor, Prof. Dr. Burcu Akinici at Carnegie Mellon University. I taught this course during spring semesters at UIUC (typical class size: ~20 students). The course was also registered at the Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Graduate Option Program. In Fall 2008, my proposal to make this a permanent course was accepted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Consequently, this course was then listed as CEE 528 RS - Construction Data Modeling. In the context of this course I was placed on the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students” in Spring 2008.

I also worked with students on independent studies related to information technology in construction at UIUC.
