About

Dr. Frank Boukamp is a senior lecturer and the Program Manager for the Melbourne based Construction Management program in the School of Property, Construction and Project Management at RMIT University, Australia. After finishing his degree in Computer-Aided Civil Engineering from Bauhaus University in Germany, Dr. Boukamp focused his research on construction data & knowledge integration and was awarded a PhD in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (USA).

Dr. Boukamp’s research focuses on IT solutions for construction management and construction data & knowledge integration, such as the development of Building Information Model (BIM) based knowledge management tools and the application of Augmented and Virtual Reality to construction and construction education.

Dr. Boukamp is a founding Committee Member of MelBIM, a not for profit group based in Melbourne, Australia, that seeks to bring together the built environment community of Victoria, to share and exchange thoughts and knowledge relating to technology and innovation across the AEC+FM industry, with a particular focus on BIM. At RMIT, Dr. Boukamp is a member of an e-Learning Innovation Incubator group, aiming to push the boundaries of innovative technology use to support learning. His current effort in this area focuses on the use of Spherical Cameras and Virtual Reality glasses to create immersive, virtual site visits that can be shared with students and allow lecturers to expose students to site experiences and work integrated learning without exposing them to site hazards.
