Grade 2 Class Overview

We are so excited to start our year of learning and exploring with you! This year, we will strengthen our reading, writing, and math skills, develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, and identify strategies we can use to become independent learners. We will focus on building our class community, celebrating what makes each of us unique, and questioning how we can be active change-makers in order to make our world a better place. We will also be expanding our full inclusion program, which is an incredible opportunity for us all to grow with and learn from one another.

Our Curriculum:

-Focus on Second (BPS curriculum)

-Investigations Math

-Fundations Reading Instruction

-Units grounded in Learning For Justice's Social Justice Standards

-Second Step Social-Emotional Learning

Here are some examples of our work completed in previous years, as well as some of our key grade 2 texts!

Getting to know Ms. Milord and Ms. Boston!

Ms. Milord: Welcome to Second Grade. I love teaching second grade! I've been teaching for over 16 years and I have been at the Mozart for 7 years. My favorite things to do are to travel, learn about different cultures, teach, sing, dance, and laugh. In second grade we learn to work together as one big family. We make sure that our brothers and sisters in second grade are given and receive what is needed to succeed. I am excited to start a new year of adventure with you! Email: rmilord@bostonpublicschools.org

Ms. Boston: I am so excited to be starting my 4th year as co-teacher/Learning Specialist in Grade 2 at the Mozart! I have been a teacher in Boston Public Schools for the last 11 years, working in grades ranging from K2-12 in the areas of Special Education and ESL. I love my time at the Mozart, as it gives me the opportunity to do some of my favorite things--singing, dancing, and reading good books! Email: lboston@bostonpublicschools.org
