Dear Hernández Community,
We are happy and proud to present to you these poems written by 4th and 5th grade students as part of a poetry and identity workshop series in collaboration with Maria's art class. The workshops were planned and facilitated by Vera, our amazing intern. We hope you enjoy them!

4A Group Identity Poem
We are humanos and learners.
Hablamos inglés, español, chino, e italiano.
Speaking dos o más languages makes us superheroes.
We live in Massachusetts.
Our families come from partes diferentes del mundo:
la República Dominicana, Guatemala, Florida, Haití, y Colombia.
Nuestra habilidad de montar bicicleta, jugar fútbol and play pool, all make us one of a kind.
We love nuestra familia and to be helpful,
so we value learning and kindness.
We are the future’s maestras, científicos, astronautas, and bakers.
We are fuertes, loving, and loyal.
Nosotros somos bilingües,
and there is no one we would rather be.

People say I'm annoying, that I'm a nuisance, but when I checked, tu eres una cara sin luces.
¨You are ugly”, “You'll never be good enough¨, they said. But you’re a donkey, who are you going to “impress”?
People look me up and down, but when they see their own outfit they'll be ashamed.
I am beautiful. I am amazing in my own way. The Puerto Rican in me shines, the Guatemalan in me sparkles, the Dominican in me will chase you with a chancla if you mess with me, and the Massachusetts in me will bring out the sass.
I am the future, whether I'm a veterinarian, a dancer, or a beauty guru like James Charles, and if I'm a beauty guru,James Charles will be shook.
I’m beautiful. I’m funny. I’m sassy.I’m good enough, I’m good for me. You'll never be like me.
Like the one north star, you are bright. So keep it that way. You will always be good enough <3

For my favorite things you ask of me,
I give you merely three,

The first thing I like to do,
Is dream about finally having Little Nightmares 2.

My final advice I can give to you,
