Completing the FAFSA form allow students to request federal grants, work study, and loan all in one application (Including the TOPS scholarship). You will want to APPLY EARLY to maximize funds. The money is often first come, first serve. Deadline to apply is July, 2022.

You will need your social security number, Parent SS#, drivers license (if you have one), Alien Registration (if applicable), Federal tax info for 2020.

HELLO SENIORS!

Please check this site often! I will post updates, important dates/information, and scholarship opportunities.

COLLEGE VISITS: Colleges/Universities are beginning to open campus for tours! Tours can typically be scheduled on the school's website. I highly recommend that you consider that you schedule a visit. The tours are individualized for your interests and will provide viable information and answer questions you may have, as well help you know if the school is right for you!

**Seniors can receive 2 school excused absences for college visits. In order to be excused, YOU MUST SEE MRS. WALDRON BEFORE YOUR TOUR DATE TO RECEIVE PAPERWORK!!

TRANSCRIPTS: In the coming months, you should start applying to schools of interest. You can find the applications on the university/college website. Once you apply, send me an email and I will send your transcripts and test scores.

ACT: Most universities/colleges offer "early bird" scholarships based on GPA and ACT scores. This means that December ACT test will be the last opportunity to obtain the highest score for the early bird offering. The last opportunity for the TOPS scholarship will be June.

Be sure that you that when you register for the ACT that you indicate which schools you would like ACT to send your scores. You can send up to 4 schools for free. Everyone needs to use the code 1595 to have your scores sent to the Louisiana Office of Financial Aid (TOPS).

ATHLETES WHO ARE GOING THROUGH NCAA NEED TO USE THE CODE 9999 TO SEND SCORES TO CLEARINGHOUSE.

To register for the ACT, visit actstudent.org. Scores can be viewed from your registered portal.

SEE the ACT website for test dates and registration deadlines.

If you are on free or reduced lunch, you may be eligible for 2 free ACT vouchers. See MRS. STALLCUP in the H building for the vouchers.

FAFSA: You and a parent are highly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It will open on October 1. More information will be sent closer to that date!

A completed FAFSA is required in order to receive many scholarships (TOPS) or federal aid. The FAFSA or an Opt-Out form will be required for graduation.

SCHOLARSHIPS: I will post scholarship opportunities as I receive them. Most of the scholarships that I post will be local. Additionally, you can search for scholarships on your own. Some suggestions: www.fastweb.com, www.collegeispossible.org, www.ed.gov/finaid. You can also find monthly scholarships on the LOSFA facebook site.

I highly suggest that you start jotting down your honors/awards, extracurricular activities, and community service hours in order to organize a resume. A resume will make completing scholarships a lot easier.
