Helpful Reading HInts:

Please read sight words and reading selection each day. Also, practice the Saxon skill daily using the homework page. This Saxon page is not assigned homework but your child will receive a reward from me for completing this page. A helpful reading website is www.starfall.com. Also, your child is using MobyMax at school. If you would like log in information, please email or call me.

Remember to use proper pencil grip because it lends itself to better handwriting. I use the Handwriting without Tears program to reinforce the Zaner-Bloser curriculum used in the regular classroom. I encourage parents to check out the HWT website for many handwriting tips!!

Also, when working with your children at home please stress that they begin writing their letters at the top. Uppercase letters begin at the headline and most lowercase letters begin at the midline. Thanks for all you do to help your children at home!!! :)

Your child will have a spelling test on Friday. We will practice the spelling words each day in class using various multi-sensory techniques.

At home, try to be creative with spelling practice. Writing their words in salt or sand trays will help reinforce the spelling of each word. Another great way to practice spelling words is www.spellingcity.com. You will be able to enter your child's spelling list and the website will create practice activities. The best part is it is a free website.
