State Education Superintendent Pays Visit to BPSTIL
Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning played host to a special visitor; State Education Superintendent John White. It was White’s first time to tour BPSTIL and he was most impressed.
Louisiana’s top superintendent began his morning talking to students in Culinary Arts and sampling cookies, then donned protective eyewear to tour the welding, woodworking, automotive and small engine repair programs.
White also watched a comprehensive video, produced by the school’s Television Production program, that gave an overview of everything BPSTIL has to offer students. Afterward, Principal Jayda Spillers had the opportunity to share recent accolades, particularly the school being selected for inclusion in the Global Learners Network.
Another feather in BPSTIL’s hat is it being highlighted at the Jumpstart convention in January in Baton Rouge as a school that is implementing the career initiative extraordinarily well.
All 12 students in CTEI attempted and passed the NRF Customer Service Test on December 6, 2017! Congratulations!

Thank you Holmes Honda!
Students in the Automotive and Collision Repair programs at Bossier Parish School for Technology and Innovative Learning are on the road to accelerated learning, thanks to Holmes Honda.
Today, representatives from the dealership presented the keys to a 2011 Honda Odyssey mini-van to the instructors of BPSTIL's automotive program.
The vehicle will give students the opportunity to get hands-on training in diagnostics and maintenance. The mini-van will later be transitioned into the collision program, providing additional experience to those in that field of study.
Holmes Honda of Bossier City is locating next door to BPSTIL. Representatives from Honda said they hope one day students in the automotive program will be able to come work for them as highly-skilled service technicians.
Attached is a video, shot and narrated by students in BPSTIL's TV Production program. There is also raw video provided, as well as photos.
Holmes Honda representatives presenting the keys are Chase Johnson and Daryl Oliver. Accepting them are BPSTIL automotive instructors Jeremy Dreher and Steve May, as well as Principal Jayda Spillers.
