Monday 4th: TY food business workshop to cover issues such as HACCP plans, food safety, hygiene and covid for students thinking of doing a food business product. 11:20 – 12:40 (Ms Corkery)

Wednesday 6th: Climate Change and Trees workshop with Self Help Africa for TY Geography Rotation 1: 9:00 – 9:40. (Ms Sheil)

Friday 8th: Climate Change and Trees workshop with Self Help Africa for TY Geography Rotation 1: 14:40 – 15:20. (Ms Sheil)

Podcaster Fin Dwyer will speak with the T.Y. music module class (2:00 – 3:20). = rescheduled

Tuesday 12th: John O’Shea, Social Entrepreneurship. John will share his motivational stories with students, in the hope of inspiring another generation to take up the challenge of alleviating the suffering of the forgotten on our planet. TY Ash 9:40 - 10:20, TY Elm 10:20 - 11:00, TY Pine 11:20 - 12:00. Teachers attend workshop.

15 - 18 November during English class: CIFF (66th Cork International Film Festival) is proud to present Intinn, their free film and mental health programme which offers Transition Year students the opportunity to explore mental health, personal well-being and strategies of resilience through film, Q&As with filmmakers and well-being workshops led by youth mental health specialists

Thursday 18th: Close Encounters Self Defence and Security Program. Helps to counter against unexpected incidents, boosts confidence, enables keep fit and imparts useful skills. TY Pine and half of TY Elm.

JANUARY

Monday 10th: The Big Idea creative education programme starts and runs until the week on Monday 16th May. It will involve interactive workshops led by experts hosted by partner schools, which are fun and engaging. Students will use creative thinking to solve problems in a collaborative format.

Press Pass Program will run from January to April. It will still include student journalism competition and provide free resources such as student workbooks, and access to newspapers and news websites.

Carlow Student Enterprise Programme (SEP) County Final: A virtual ceremony announcing Carlow SEP County Final winners will air on St. Patrick’s Day, 17th March at 10am. Viewing links will be shared in due course and the broadcast will also be available to view post the event.
