Red Ribbon Week
We want all students to make healthy choices to keep our bodies in the best shape possible. Avoiding alcohol, drugs, and tobacco and pledging to stay free of these substances helps us to be responsible and successful people!
Alcohol affects brain development, weight, and makes you feel terrible. It is not a healthy way to cope with problems. The long-term damage done to your body is rough - it damages your skin, liver, kidneys, and your brain.
Illegal drugs (marijuana, heroin, cocaine, etc) are not the only types of drugs that are abused.
Over the counter and prescription medication that is taken incorrectly, by someone who doesn't need it, or overused can cause the same damage to the body as illegal drugs.
Not only does smoking make you smell (ugh!) it also coats your lungs with chemicals that eventually destroy your lung function. It opens you up to getting sick more often, and you can develop long-term illnesses like COPD or Emphysema.
