Texas Law defines Cyber Bullying as using electronic communication to:
Intimidate, harass, or humiliate another person.
It typically involves repeated conduct, including threatening harm, spreading rumors, or posting mean comments or photographs online.
With cell phones/computers being used so much, Cyber Bullying is becoming a very serious issue. Many people choose to say things online or through text-message because they aren't looking at the person's face when they say it. Sending a text or message through ANY social media (Snap Chat, text-message, Facebook, or any other app out there) that is mean or unkind is NOT OKAY.
Just like a conversation with someone face to face - if you ask that person to stop and they refuse it is considered BULLYING.
Cyber Bullying will not only get you in trouble in school, but it has other potential consequences: fines, probation, community service, or even incarceration.
Victims of Cyber Bullying often have a harder time concentrating at school, making friends, and have more absences because they don't want to come to school to be around their bully.
The victim also may suffer long-term psychological damage, and this can lead to students having thoughts of harming themselves or even suicide.
There are reasons why this is taken so seriously, and why using your cell phone is not allowed at school. Keep in mind, though, that Cyber Bullying outside of school STILL COUNTS AT SCHOOL and you will be disciplined for it.
Have you ever been bullied?
Why would you want someone else to feel like that?
