Mr. Nosal takes on Principal role

As we wish Mrs. Brogan and her family all the best as they welcome their latest addition to the family, we also welcome Mr. Nosal to his new role as principal of grades 6-8. Mr. Nosal has spent the past few weeks transitioning to this role and will fully assume principal duties as of Monday, October 22nd. He will serve in this role for the remainder of the school year. Welcome to your new role, Principal Nosal! And we are excited for you, Brogan Family!

Bombers unite: Lincoln PARK JOINS John hill FOR 8th grade field day

The 8th graders had the opportunity to meet with their future high school classmates this week at the Lincoln Park/John Hill School field day at Boonton High School. The students bonded and interacted in several different recreational games. At each game site, they also had time to meet with different high school Key Club leaders to discuss their experiences at Boonton High School.

boonton fire department teaches fire safety to 3rd & 4th Graders

3rd and 4th grade students had the pleasure of learning about fire safety and prevention thanks to a visit from the Boonton Fire Department on Thursday. Our guest firefighters graciously shared their expertise and even provided a tour of fire truck equipment for our students. Thank you for supporting our school and providing this wonderful opportunity for our students, Boonton Fire Department!

CASSIDY EARNS MUSIC STUDENT OF THE MONTH RECOGNITION

8th grade student, Cassidy Davis, was recognized as an October Music Student of the Month by the Mayo Performing Arts Center. Cassidy earned this honor as a result of her outstanding work as a vocalist and we are extremely proud to have such a superb representative of JHS! Cassidy received her recognition at the Performing Arts Center on October 17th. Way to go Cassidy!

3rd & 4th Grade students partake in math marathon

The New Jersey Consortium for Gifted & Talented Programs hosted a Math Marathon on Friday, October 19th and twelve of our JHS 3rd & 4th graders represented John Hill School at this event. The program gives students gifted in the area of mathematics an opportunity to experience and learn challenging new math concepts. Math specialists presented hands-on workshops to help students further develop and apply high level mathematical skills.

JR BOMBER SPORTS TEAMS KEEP FLYING

The Boys Soccer Team had three games this week and have brought their record up to 3-3-4. The Soccer Bombers are building momentum heading into the County Tournament where they will match up against #1 seed Mendham Township next Thursday.

The Girls Soccer Team's most recent game was this past Thursday and they had a strong team effort in a 5-1 victory over Mount Arlington. Next week, the girls host Mount Arlington on Tuesday and the County Tournament begins on Thursday with a home game vs. Assumption.

In field hockey action, the Bombers battled through two tough games this week and have another game at home today vs. Memorial (start time 4pm). They are hoping to earn a first round County Tournament home game to be played next week.

JHS TO CELEBRATE RED RIBBON WEEK

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest drug prevention program in the nation and JHS is proud to take part in this initiative! In addition to classroom and guidance activities, the following theme days will be in place to help our students emphasize the importance of the "Be Drug Free" message and to ensure that this focus is present throughout the week.

Monday - Wear Red & Black Day: "Bombers Against Drug Use!"

Tuesday - Silly Sock Day: "Sock it to Drugs!"

Wednesday - Wacky Hair/Hat Day: "Put a Cap on Drugs!"

Thursday - Hawaiian Theme: "Lei Off Drugs!"

Friday - Sport Team Day: "Team Up Against Drugs!"

STUDEnt focus groups gathered

This week Mrs. Mizov and Mrs. Maier have been meeting with groups of students who are sharing their thoughts about the climate at John Hill School. The students have provided some wonderful and creative insights into what makes our school great and what will help us make it even better. The feedback has been encouraging in that students expressed feeling safe and comfortable at John Hill and they were emphatic in stating that we are good at accepting differences in our school community.

BOONTON HIGH SCHOOL OFFERS OPEN HOUSE & Information session

On Thursday, October 25th @ 7pm, Boonton High School will be offering an open house and Gateway Academy information session for 8th grade families. Highlights of the evening will include an overview of the rigorous curriculum, diverse extracurricular offerings, and a building tour. The gathering will begin in the auditorium.
