VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are needed for child care at Ockerman Elementary while their parents partake in Adult English classes every Thursday from 5:30 – 7:30. Please email leslie.harney@boone.kyschools.us for more information and to sign up.


The YMCA is looking for volunteers for their annual fall festival on October 18. Please email Jess for additional details jludwig@cincinnatiymca.org


Wednesday October 23rd 6-8pm @ Erpenbeck Elementary

Trunk or Treat

1 hr shifts available

3 volunteers needed per hour

(Description-candy refill runners, bounce house attendants and assist the PTSO members)

Mary Rose Mission is looking for volunteers to help with preparing or serving an evening meal. Meals are currently served 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. The Boone County Public Library has numerous opportunities for volunteers. Please see below:

Homework Help for ELL Students

WHAT: Often parents and students, who have English as a second-language, need help with clarification on school projects or forms, and help with reading skills. Volunteers are needed to help with translating assignments, general homework help (not tutoring), and practicing reading in English.

WHERE: Florence Branch of the Boone County Public Library

WHEN: Mondays, when school is in session, 5-7 p.m.; interested students will need to complete a survey and 30 minute training.

Young Boone County

WHAT: Every month the library and the Boone County Alliance offer a service project for teens. Projects vary and any teen can attend.

WHERE: Scheben Branch of the Boone County Public Library

WHEN: 1st Tuesday of each month, 6:30-8 p.m.

Read with a Teen

WHAT: Help students in grades 1-3 practice their reading skills.

WHERE: Scheben Branch of the Boone County Public Library

WHEN: Through the school year & summer

CONTACT: Interested students, 8th grade and above, must complete a required training offered annually in May. For more information, please contact Dawna Bach at dbach@bcpl.org


General Volunteering

WHAT: Help the library with special events or regular volunteer activities, which can include: preparing supplies for programs, general cleaning of library (books, bookshelves, toys, etc.), creating scrap paper, putting together packets, etc.

WHERE: Boone County Library locations

CONTACT: Interested students should fill out a Volunteer Application Form and return it to any Boone County Library location.
