Handy Library – Book Organizer (“Handy Library,” the “App”) is an offline Android application developed by Bookshare Co., Ltd (“Bookshare,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

This Policy applies to users in all countries. If the law where you live gives you additional or stronger privacy rights, those rights also apply.

1. Your Library Data

Handy Library does not require you to create an account.

Your books, cover images, shelves, tags, notes, reading activity, lending records, borrower details, and other library information are stored locally on your device. Bookshare does not upload or store this library data on its servers unless you voluntarily send information to us for customer support.

You are responsible for obtaining any permission required before entering personal information about another person into the App.

2. Optional Online Features

Some features connect to external services only when you choose to use them:

• Online book and cover search: The App sends information such as an ISBN, title, author, or search terms to third-party book-information providers, which may include Amazon, Google Books, Goodreads, Open Library, Rakuten Books in Japan, and Naver in South Korea. These providers may also receive standard technical information, such as your IP address, and process it under their own privacy policies.

• Google Drive backup and restore: If you choose this feature, your backup is stored in your own Google Drive account. Bookshare does not store or control your Google Drive backup. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply.

• Google Play purchases: Premium purchases are processed by Google Play. The App uses purchase-status information to activate or restore Premium features. Bookshare does not receive or store your full payment-card details.

• Customer support: If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, backup files, Google Play order information, and device or App details. We use it only to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

3. Device Permissions

Depending on the feature and Android version, the App may request access to:

• Camera: to scan ISBN barcodes and take book-cover photos;

• Photos, media, files, or storage: to select or save cover images and to import, export, back up, or restore library files;

• Notifications: to provide reminders and other App notifications; and

• Google Drive authorization: only when you choose to back up or restore data through Google Drive.

Permissions are requested only for the related feature. You can manage them in Android settings. Refusing an optional permission may disable that feature, but you can still add and manage books manually where available.

4. How We Use and Share Information

We use information we receive only to provide features you request, process support requests, maintain security, prevent misuse, and comply with the law.

Where applicable, we rely on providing the service you request, your consent for optional features, our legitimate interests in support and security, or compliance with legal obligations.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use your library data for targeted advertising.

Information may be processed by Google or third-party book-information providers when you choose to use their services, including in countries where those providers operate. Their own privacy policies and safeguards apply.

We may also disclose information received through customer support when legally required or when necessary to protect users, Bookshare, or others.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your local library data remains on your device until you delete it, clear the App’s storage, or uninstall the App.

Exported files, saved cover images, and Google Drive backups remain in the locations you selected until you delete them separately.

Customer-support messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of personal information held by Bookshare, subject to applicable law.

Because Handy Library does not create a Bookshare user account, there is no separate App account to delete.

6. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information that we receive. Your local data is also protected by your device and Google-account security settings.

You should protect your device with a screen lock, keep Android and the App updated, and secure any exported files or backups. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

7. Children

Handy Library is a general-purpose book-organizing tool intended for a general audience. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, this age threshold is 16, or the lower age set by your country's national law.

Because library data is stored locally on your device and the App does not require an account, Bookshare does not receive information about who uses the App. Bookshare only receives personal information if someone contacts us directly for customer support.

Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of the App and avoid entering unnecessary personal information about children or other people.

If a parent or guardian believes a child under the applicable age has sent personal information to Bookshare through customer support — for example, in an email message or an attached backup file — contact us at the address in Section 9. We will delete that information from our support records.

Bookshare cannot access, modify, or delete library data stored on your own device or in your own Google Drive account. You control that data directly and can delete it at any time as described in Sections 5 and 8.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You control most information directly because it is stored on your device or in your Google Drive account. You can:

• Edit or delete local library data;

• Revoke permissions through Android settings;

• Delete backups from Google Drive; and

• Choose not to use online features.

Depending on your country, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information held by Bookshare, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator.

To exercise these rights regarding information we hold, contact us. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

9. Changes and Contact

We may update this Policy when the App, our practices, or applicable law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required.
