SUMMER LETTER JUNE 2019

Dear Bonny Eagle Students Parents/Guardians,

We want to acknowledge that this has been a challenging school year. We know you have questions and your counselors will be here to help support you in the fall. Please refer to our Bonny Eagle Student Service webpage this summer for information and updates. https://behs.bonnyeagle.org We have shared important information regarding work permits, resume building, SAT testing in the fall, our school course guide, AP Courses, post secondary planning and more. We will use this platform to share updates and information for all students and parents.

Due to COVID-19 and the ongoing changes that revolve around our move to remote Learning, students will not be provided their final schedules for 2020/2021 until August. Please understand that we will maintain all of your requests, concerns and thoughts as we work through this process but our expectation is there will be many changes and adjustments over the course of the summer. We thank you for your patience in these challenging times.

Sophomores Class of 2023- It’s been a strange first year for you but you are now a sophomore. We have enjoyed getting to know all of you. Work permit information is on our website if you are looking for summer employment. Working this summer is a great opportunity to earn some money, meet new people, and learn new skills. Take advantage of your free time and volunteer in your community, build a resume, and make the most of your summer break. When your schedule is available check it over to ensure it not only has the courses you have signed up for but also your course load is balanced. Contact your counselor through email if you need to make changes. Counselors will begin being available on August 19th to work with student schedules, enroll new students, and start our new year before the school year begins.

Juniors Class of 2022- Make the most of your summer through employment, volunteer opportunities, and creative ways to spend your time. Remember to check our website and your school email often. If you haven't started a resume now is a great time, you can find resume building tips in your Naviance account and also on our website under the sophomore tab. Have you chosen challenging courses for next

year? Schedules will be available online in August. Please review your schedule to ensure you not only have the courses you need, but also that you are challenging yourself to your full potential.

Seniors Class of 2021- We will be ready to work with you in the fall on your post secondary plan. Thank you to everyone who filled out your junior survey , if you haven't yet you can find it on our webpage under juniors. We use this important information to help us plan for your senior year and meet your individual needs. Do you have questions about the SAT? Registration for August, September, and October administrations opened for all students on June 3. Log onto your Collegeboard Account and follow instructions to sign up for a SAT exam. Students are responsible for payment and registration for the SAT test. For students who are eligible for a fee waiver: As always, eligible students will be able to take the SAT with a fee waiver. Please contact your school counselor if you qualify for a fee waiver. Upcoming SAT Dates are August 29, September 26,October 3, November 7, and December 5th. Practice for the SAT is available through Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org/sat

We will meet with each of you in the fall to discuss and support your post secondary plans. If you are applying to college next year we recommend keeping a list of college application due dates. The 2021-22 Common App will be available at www.commonapp.org on August 1 if you wish to create an account before school starts. We use Naviance for college applications and recommendations. We will work with you in the fall to link your common app and Naviance account. You may not be able to visit a campus in person this summer, but you can take virtual tours on college websites, and follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Have a wonderful summer ,
