About Your Teacher

Mrs. Mary Dombroskas has been at BCS since 2014. In addition to teaching the 7th and 8th grade Music Survey classes, she also teaches K-3 General Music at 4th Grade Chorus. Mrs. Dombroskas is originally from Ohio and graduated from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio with a double major in Music Education and Percussion. While there, she participated in University Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, African Drumming Ensemble, Steel Drum Band, Flute Ensemble, and Brass Ensemble. After graduating, she came to Connecticut to earn her Masters degree from The University of Hartford Hartt School of Music in Percussion Performance. While at The Hartt School, she participated in Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Drum Band, and African Drumming Ensemble. She also assisted with the Community Division Concert Band and taught the Middle School Percussion Ensemble.

After graduation, Mrs. Dombroskas substitute taught for a year and then worked at Solomon Schechter Day School in West Hartford, CT for three years teaching PreK 2-8th Grade music. In 2014, she came to Bolton Center School and has enjoyed her students and colleagues very much! Outside of BCS, Mrs. Dombroskas teaches private piano and percussion lessons around West Hartford, plays percussion with the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra, and was previously the percussion instructor for marching and concert band at Berlin High School. She loves to knit, go on road trips with her friends, and hanging out with her husband and her miniature schnauzer puppy, Halligan.
