Types of adverbs in Spanish grammar correspond to the type of information they provide. Spanish adverbs are divided into various categories such as adverbs of time, place, manner, quantity and many more.

Adverbs of place describe a location, place or address. They answer the question “Where?”, “Where to?” or “Where from?”.

Common adverbs of place in Spanish grammar include: aquí (here), acá (here), allí (there), allá (there), cerca (near), lejos (far), delante (in front), detrás (behind), encima (on top), debajo (underneath), dentro (inside), fuera (outside), adelante (ahead), atrás (behind), arriba (up, above), abajo (down, below), adentro (inside), afuera (outside).

Example:

La universidad está allá.

The university is over there.

Aquí hay muchas personas.

There are lots of people here.
