A very special congratulations today goes out to the THS Marching Band! On Saturday, the band competed at the District-3 Marching Band Competition on the blue at BSU. Competing in the 5A-Large Band Division with their 2018 program “To Build A Dream”, THS was awarded Best Percussion, Best Music, Best General Effect, and 1st Place Overall! This was the 4th time this season that the band received Best Percussion and Best Music in their division! The band also received the Mel Shelton Award, given to the band with the highest music score of the entire competition of all 25 bands from across southwest Idaho! To top it all off, your Timberline Wolf Pack Marching Band brought home the traveling trophy, given to the 1st Place Overall Sweepstakes winner – the top scoring band of the entire competition of 25 bands from all divisions (2A, 3A, 4A, 5A-Small and 5A-Large). This is the first time ever for Timberline, and Timberline is the first Boise School District band to bring home this award since 1991!

When you see a band student, please give them a high five for their incredible achievement!

Please join us in congratulating Encore. This year our choir program received one of the highest honors you can receive in our world - we were selected as a performance group at the State ACDA conference on October 6th. We performed for about 80 choir directors (College, High School, Professional etc.) from across the state at the Cathedral of the Rockies.

Their performance was exemplary. We don't have a "state championship" for choir with shiny trophies, but this is about as close as it gets.

Quotes from professionals in attendance:

"Rarely have I heard such consistently beautiful

choral singing in a variety of styles, combined with a visual

display of authentic musical dedication by an entire ensemble.

I (and everyone else I spoke with after your performance) left

the church feeling inspired about music, and "moved" beyond

what words can express." - Scott Anderson, ISU Choir Director and ACDA President

"These were sensitive, polished renderings of sophisticated repertoire which would have been exceptionally fine at the end of a school year, but coming at the end of September they were little short of miraculous!" - Daniel Gawthrop, nationally renowned choral composer

"What we experienced today changed and inspired us - thank you." - Derrick Fox - University of Nebraska Choir Director.

Congratulations to the Timberline High School Debate Team for earning the Leading Chapter Award in the Idaho Gem of the Mountain District. They have been recognized for their outstanding accomplishment with a commemorative plaque. Only the top school in accumulated members and degrees per district earns this designation each year. Out of 3.000 member schools nationwide Timberline is one of only 109 to receive the Leading Chapter Award.

Way to go wolves!!
