My name is Makena Simis. I am a proud alum of Riverglen and Capital and a graduate of the University of Montana. This is my second year at Riverglen Junior High. I teach World Studies 7 as well as coaching Football at Capital High School and Basketball, and Track & Field at Riverglen. This will be my first year coaching Track and Field, where I will be coaching the throws. I am looking forward to an awesome season with our Grizzlies!
Greetings, my name is Coach Tayor. I teach Worldstudies 7 and 8 here at Riverglen and am super excited for this upcoming track season. I have coached one year of track in West Ada and this will be my second year here at Riverglen. I will be coaching short distance (100,200,400) and relays. What I like most about track and running, in general, is that it teaches us how to push past our mental and physical limits. In my experience, no other sport does this quite like track/ cross country. Teaching kids how to push themselves at this age will transfer to every other aspect of their lives. I am a distance runner and have completed a 50k, several marathons, and countless half marathon races. I am currently training for my 6th Race to Robie Creek and I look forward to sharing my love and passion for running with the kids.
Hi , my name is Floyd Patterson and this will be my 2nd season coaching at Riverglen Junior High. I currently teach Math and this year I will be coaching Sprints/Relays/Blocks alongside Coach Taylor. The emphasis for my Grizzly sprinters this year is SPEED and for all sprinters to end the season faster than they began the season.
Hello, my name is Mr. de Vries, and I will be assisting with track this Spring. This is my fifth year at Riverglen; I currently teach AVID and Critical Thinking for 9th grade. While I have a long history with playing and coaching athletics, this will be my first year assisting with track. For this upcoming season, I will be working with the 800 and 1600 distance runners, and beyond the immediate goal of improving, I most look forward to helping young people embrace a lifelong passion and love of running.
