I wasn’t born in New Amsterdam, I was born in Ghana in Africa where everybody didn’t really have any shoes and we had to walk barefoot. I loved my home and I had a nice life with lots of friends. One day, me and my twin Afua were playing together near the big tree, and suddenly someone climbed over our fence and took us away. They took us to a big boat. The boat ride was crowded and hot because we were all squished together and we didn’t have a lot of space. I felt uncomfortable and really sad. I was relieved to be with Afua, but I was worried about my mom because I had no idea where she was.
When the boat got to New Amsterdam we were surprised to see our mom. I gasped! She was on the boat with use the whole entire time! I felt so happy inside and I pushed my way to get to her. I threw my arms around her and gave her a big hug.
