Nikolaas's Backstory

I was born in New Amsterdam, but my parents came here on a boat. My brothers and sisters were born in New Amsterdam too. My parents were born in the Netherlands. My parents told me they left the Netherlands because they wanted to practice their own religion freely and own their own piece of land.

I live close to the middle of town in New Amsterdam because my father needs to be close to the water. He is a fisherman and I am training to be one too. I live in a small one bedroom house with my big family. I live near a lot of other small houses.

I feel good about living in New Amsterdam because there are lots of people to talk. My friends sometimes visit my house and I sometime visit thiers. We play games at their house. If I lived far away I wouldn’t be able to do that. The people in town are nice to me. They are friendly.
