Certified School Nurse
Grades 9-12
Hello! I am Nurse Ali and I have been with the Blue Mountain School District since 2020. I graduated from the former Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing in 2007 and was employed as an Emergency/Trauma nurse at Lehigh Valley hospital from 2007-2013. During that time period I obtained my certification in emergency nursing. I then transitioned into women's health until 2016. I received my bachelors in nursing through Penn State University and then my School Nurse Certification through Slippery Rock University. I have previous experience in elementary school nursing from 2016-2020 prior to coming to Blue Mountain.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my husband, Kevin, and our 4 children: Matthew, Macy, Molly, and Maeva as well as our 2 dogs: a scruffy mixed terrier named Ruby and our giant Great Dane Nova.
I believe in the saying "you can't educate a student who isn't healthy...and you can't keep children healthy who aren't educated". I work closely with parents/guardians, teachers, and staff to help students with chronic health issues remain in school as well as taking care of students who experience acute injuries or illness throughout the school day. I encourage an open line of communication in order to address your child's health needs.
Below I have included some important documents that your child may need for the school year.

Type 1 Diabetes Parent Fact Sheet Type 1 diabetes in children is an autoimmune disease that can be fatal if untreated, and the guidance provided in this information sheet is intended to raise awareness about this disease
