Measurement concept
Learners explored the concepts of ‘Empty,’ ‘Half,’ and ‘Full’ through an engaging paper tearing and pasting activity. They tore colored paper into small pieces and pasted them inside jars drawn on worksheets. One jar was left empty, the second was filled halfway, and the third was filled completely. This hands-on experience helped learners visually understand the difference between empty, half, and full while building mathematical vocabulary. Along with concept clarity, the activity also strengthened fine motor skills, focus, and hand–eye coordination. It made abstract ideas of quantity more concrete, meaningful and enjoyable for young learners.
Sorting Activity
Learners engaged in an object sorting activity using colorful pom-poms and buttons. They carefully observed, identified, and grouped objects based on similarities such as color, size, and type. This hands-on activity not only encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving but also enhanced their observation and classification skills. By manipulating and sorting objects, learners developed fine motor coordination, concentration, and decision-making abilities. The engaging experience introduced them to the early concepts of organization and categorization in a playful way, laying a strong foundation for mathematical and logical thinking through active exploration and joyful learning.
All About Patterns!
Learners explored the concept of patterns through an engaging hands-on activity using different objects like pom-poms, matchsticks, and buttons. They created patterns in the form of sleeping lines, standing lines, circles, and half-circles by arranging the materials creatively. This activity encouraged observation, sequencing, and logical thinking, helping learners recognize order and repetition in a fun way. Along with developing early math skills, it also enhanced their creativity, concentration, and fine motor abilities. The variety of objects kept the activity interactive and enjoyable, making the learning of abstract concepts more concrete, meaningful, and playful for young learners.
Heavy-light Concept
Learners explored the concept of ‘Heavy’ and ‘Light’ through an engaging hands-on activity using live objects. They compared different classroom items by holding and feeling their weights, which helped them practically experience the difference between heavy and light. To extend their learning, a sorting activity was conducted on chart paper where learners placed pictures of objects under the correct category. This activity not only made the abstract concept more concrete but also enhanced their observation, reasoning, and classification skills. The playful approach encouraged active participation and made the learning process interactive, meaningful, and enjoyable.
Learning About Letter Sounds
Learners explored the phonic sound ‘c’ through a fun and creative hands-on activity. To reinforce the sound, they made a colorful caterpillar using cotton and paints, while connecting the sound to meaningful words such as c – cotton, c – colors, c – caterpillar. This interactive activity not only supported sound recognition but also strengthened their vocabulary and association skills. The use of art materials kept the learners engaged, while enhancing their creativity, fine motor coordination, and ability to connect letters with sounds in an enjoyable and memorable way.
Unit Of Inquiry - Who We Are
Learners inquired into the unit on “Sense Organs” under the line of inquiry Using our senses to explore our surroundings. To make learning experiential, five interactive stations were created, each focusing on one sense—sight, touch, hearing, taste, and smell. Learners explored these stations through engaging activities such as identifying objects by touch, listening to sounds, tasting flavors, smelling fragrances, and observing visuals. This hands-on experience helped them understand how our senses work together to connect us with our environment. The activity fostered curiosity, active participation, and deeper conceptual understanding in a joyful and meaningful way.
EYP-3
Learning Language!
As part of Literacy Week, students first watched an engaging video on picture comprehension. They then solved related activities, enhancing observation and critical thinking skills. The exercise encouraged creativity, expression and deeper understanding, making learning fun and interactive while strengthening literacy and communication in a joyful environment.
Magic Of Words!
Learners explored consonant blends by building words using letters and sounds. Through hands-on activities and interactive games, they enhanced phonemic awareness, reading skills and vocabulary. The activity encouraged critical thinking, collaboration and communication, helping learners confidently recognize, blend and use consonant blends in meaningful words.
Fun with Math - Let's Compare!
Learners enjoyed a fun-filled play based math activity on comparing numbers using the concept of greater than, less than and equal to. With candy sticks as crocodile mouths, learners discovered how the hungry crocodile always eats the bigger number, making learning playful, engaging and meaningful.
Play Based Learning - Number Names
Learners engaged in a fun activity to match number names with their corresponding numerals through the hands on learning. They strengthened their understanding of number recognition, reinforced counting skills and developed thinking and communication abilities, fostering confidence and curiosity in exploring mathematical concepts.
Digging Deeper into Senses!
Students actively engaged in a hands-on activity to explore the five sense organs. Through observation, discussion and interactive experiments, they developed awareness of how sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell help them understand and interact with the world, fostering curiosity, thinking skills and reflective learning.

Tracing Our Roots: Learners Explore Family Histories
As part of their Unit of Inquiry into family history, our Grade 1 learners took a meaningful step in discovering more about themselves and their loved ones. They enthusiastically created their own family trees and shared a few lines about them with their peers. Through this activity, students not only celebrated their unique backgrounds but also demonstrated the Learner Profile attributes of being thinkers—making connections about their heritage, and communicators—expressing their stories with confidence.
Symmetry in Action: Exploring Shapes in Math
In Math, our young learners explored the concepts of symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes. They showcased their understanding by thoughtfully sorting shapes into the two categories. This engaging activity not only strengthened their conceptual understanding but also encouraged them to be reflective learners. By working and discussing collaboratively, students enhanced their social skills while discovering the beauty of balance in shapes.
Learning Beyond Borders:
Exploring Family Histories with Dr. Suraj From Australia!
As part of their Unit of Inquiry, our Grade 1 learners delved deeper into the concept of family history by interviewing guest speaker Dr. Suraj from Australia. With curiosity and confidence, they demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being inquirers and strengthened their communication skills through thoughtful questioning. This interaction gave students valuable insights into the family histories of Australians, broadening their understanding of how families around the world are unique yet connected.

Stories Speak!
This month, our learners delved into the world of stories by identifying key story elements such as characters, setting, plot, problem, and solution. Through engaging read-alouds, discussions, and creative activities, students discovered how these elements work together to make a story meaningful. They also applied their understanding by creating their own story maps, which not only enhanced comprehension but also nurtured imagination and creativity.

Integration of Language and Visual Arts: Exploring Hyperbole Through Art
To make the concept of Hyperbole a figure of speech that uses exaggeration interesting and fun, learners engage in a creative activity. They were given simple hyperbolic sentences like “My bag was as heavy as a mountain” and “He was so tall that he could touch the sky.” The learners illustrated these sentences in their notebooks, turning abstract language into vivid pictures. Afterwards, a reflective discussion helped them identify that such sentences were not literally true but exaggerated for effect.
Through this activity, learners developed thinking skills by analyzing language, and enhanced their communication skills by expressing ideas visually. They also displayed the learner profile attributes of being inquirers, as they questioned the meaning behind the sentences, and communicators, as they shared their understanding creatively. This engaging session not only deepened their grasp of figurative language but also nurtured imagination and critical reflection.
Celebrating Culture through Arts
Ganpati Idol Making:
Ganpati Idol Making: Students crafted eco-friendly Ganpati idols, learning the importance of celebrating festivals responsibly while honoring cultural traditions.
Rakhi Making
Rakhi Making: Through Rakhi-making, children expressed love and unity, designing meaningful creations that reflected both skill and sentiment.
Showcasing Our Dance Skills
This month at BMCS, our enthusiastic learners explored the basics of gymnastics, practicing fundamental moves such as the bridge, front roll, back roll, and handstand on the wall. These activities not only helped them build strength, flexibility, and balance but also boosted their confidence and coordination. Along with this, our students began preparing an energetic dance drill to showcase on the upcoming Sports Day. With teamwork, discipline, and enthusiasm, they were all set to bring vibrancy and spirit to the grand event.
Music
In September, our students celebrated Grandparents’ Day with a heartfelt song performance, expressing love and gratitude towards their grandparents. They also participated in Hindi Diwas, presenting a beautiful song that honored the richness and importance of the Hindi language. Both performances gave students the chance to showcase their talent while connecting with cultural values and traditions.
Celebrating Colours - Yellow Day
Learners celebrated Yellow Day through a fun show and tell activity. They explored yellow objects, discussed their importance and shared their feelings about yellow in mixtures, building colour awareness. They also learned that yellow is a colour that is easily visible from a distance and is associated with excitement and cheer, making it a bright and happy colour.
Grandparents Day
Our school joyfully celebrated Grandparents’ Day to honor the love, guidance, and wisdom that grandparents bring into our lives. The event aimed to highlight the importance of intergenerational bonds and to recognize grandparents as lifelong mentors and role models.
Learners’ grandparents were invited to school and warmly welcomed by the community. They shared their thoughts and experiences, offering valuable life lessons that deeply inspired our learners. The atmosphere was filled with joy and respect as stories and reflections connected the young with the old. A special highlight of the celebration was the Handprint Activity, where grandparents and their grandchildren created colorful impressions together. This activity beautifully symbolized unity, love, and cherished memories.
The day concluded with heartfelt gratitude, reminding everyone that grandparents are true pillars of strength, affection, and wisdom. It was a meaningful celebration that reinforced the spirit of respect, care, and togetherness.
BMCS joyfully celebrated Literacy Week from 8th September to 12th September 2025, where students immersed themselves in the beauty of languages through a variety of fun-filled and enriching activities. Learners participated in story writing, book jacket making, handwriting competition, elocution competition, best-dressed book character and poetry recitation with Sanskrit shlokas.
The celebrations culminated on 12th September with Hindi Diwas, where students witnessed shayari, games, storytelling, songs, and a vibrant nukkad natak presented by the teachers. We also had the wonderful opportunity to welcome students from Gurukrupa School, who joined us in the festivities and enjoyed the celebrations alongside our learners.
Throughout the week, learners demonstrated IB Learner Profile attributes of being communicators, confidently sharing their ideas and expressions; risk-takers, as they stepped onto the stage to perform; and knowledgeable, as they explored the richness of different languages and cultures.
They also enhanced important skills such as self-management (through handwriting and preparation), social skills (collaborating with peers), thinking skills (creative story writing and poetry), and communication skills (elocution, recitation and performances).
It was truly a fun learning experience, filled with creativity, expression, and cultural appreciation, leaving our learners inspired and confident.
Hindi Divas Celebration
हमारे विद्यालय में हिंदी दिवस बड़े उत्साह और हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया गया। इस अवसर का मुख्य उद्देश्य शिक्षार्थियों को हिंदी भाषा के महत्व से परिचित कराना और उसमें गर्व की भावना विकसित करना था। हिंदी हमारी मातृभाषा होने के साथ-साथ हमारी संस्कृति और पहचान की आत्मा भी है।
कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत स्वागत भाषण और हिंदी भाषा के महत्व पर विचार प्रस्तुति से हुई। उसके बाद शिक्षार्थियों ने कविता पाठ, गीत, नाटक और पहेलियों द्वारा अपनी प्रतिभा का शानदार प्रदर्शन किया। इस अवसर पर विशेष रूप से पास के हिंदी माध्यम विद्यालय के विद्यार्थियों को भी आमंत्रित किया गया था। उन्होंने भी अपनी प्रस्तुतियों से कार्यक्रम को और अधिक समृद्ध बनाया। विभिन्न स्कूलों के बच्चों का यह सम्मिलन सांस्कृतिक आदान–प्रदान का सुंदर उदाहरण बना।
कार्यक्रम में हमारे विद्यालय की ओर से मुख्य अतिथियों का भी स्वागत किया गया। अतिथियों ने हिंदी भाषा की महत्ता पर प्रेरणादायी विचार साझा किए और बच्चों की प्रस्तुतियों की सराहना की। शिक्षकों द्वारा प्रस्तुत नुक्कड़ नाटक ने हिंदी भाषा की प्रासंगिकता और जीवन में उसकी आवश्यकता को प्रभावी ढंग से प्रस्तुत किया।
समारोह का समापन धन्यवाद ज्ञापन और इस प्रेरणा के साथ हुआ कि हिंदी केवल भाषा नहीं बल्कि हमारी संस्कृति और एकता का प्रतीक है

Teacher’s Day Celebration at BMCS – A Day to Remember!
On 5th September, we came together at BMCS to celebrate Teacher’s Day—or as we fondly call it, a day to honour our Facilitators.
The day began with a heartfelt surprise party, where our facilitators were welcomed with warmth and joy. Each teacher received a personalized gift, complete with a custom message tailored to their name, along with a beautifully crafted personalized card.
One of the highlights of the day was the Facilitators' Talent Show. Our teachers truly stole the spotlight as they showcased their incredible skills—dancing, singing, reading poetry, and storytelling. It was a delightful experience that brought smiles, laughter, and a lot of applause.
To wrap up the celebration, Bhumika Ma’am (HOS) and Yashvi Ma’am (Director) surprised everyone with a special lunch at Avadh Utopia, making the day even more memorable.
It was a beautiful celebration of the people who inspire, guide, and empower us every single day. Here's to our amazing facilitators—thank you for everything you do!
Orange Day
Learners enthusiastically celebrated Orange Day through an engaging hands-on activity. They explored the concept of color mixing by combining red and yellow to create the vibrant orange shade. Using this newly formed color, learners painted a tiger, making the activity both fun and educational. This experience not only enhanced their understanding of primary and secondary colors but also encouraged creativity, fine motor skills, and joyful participation, making the day truly memorable for all learners.
Celebration Of Learning!
Our EYP and PYP learners joyfully celebrated the culmination of their unit by presenting their learning to parents with enthusiasm and creativity. They crafted engaging charts and models, showcasing their deep understanding and making a lasting impact. This event highlighted their growth in key Learner Profile attributes, including being Inquirers, as they explored concepts with curiosity; Communicators, confidently sharing ideas; Reflective, assessing their progress; and Thinkers, applying creative problem-solving. The celebration also strengthened essential skills: Research Skills through gathering and organizing information, Communication Skills via clear presentations, Thinking Skills in designing innovative visuals, and Social Skills through collaboration and audience engagement. This vibrant display of knowledge and growth underscored our learners’ development as confident, curious individuals. We are immensely proud of their achievements and excited for their continued journey!
Professional Development at BMCS
IB PYP In-School Workshop
BMCS recently hosted a two-day IB PYP Category 1 Workshop – Building Your IB Programme, a formal professional training offered by the International Baccalaureate. At BMCS, we strongly believe in nurturing our teachers’ professional growth and this workshop was a meaningful step in that direction.
The sessions were led by Ms. Abha Seth, an experienced IB workshop leader, who engaged our teachers in insightful and enlightening learning experiences. The workshop not only deepened their understanding of the IB philosophy and pedagogy but also equipped them with strategies to further enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
We are confident that our teachers will translate this learning into impactful classroom practices, enriching the educational journey of our students.
BMCS Annual Sports Meet
Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
This year’s Sports Day was not just about games but about learning life values through the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Learners discovered how sports connect with everyday choices and habits. The Healthy and Unhealthy Food Race (UNSDG 3: Good Health and Well-being) encouraged balanced eating for a healthier lifestyle. The Dress Up Well activity (UNSDG 4: Quality Education) reminded children about self care and readiness for daily routines. In the Harvest Hustle Relay (UNSDG 2: Zero Hunger), they learned the importance of food security and reducing waste. Sprint events (UNSDG 5: Gender Equality) promoted equal opportunities, fitness, and discipline that carry into daily exercise.
The Water Relays (UNSDG 13 & 15) highlighted habits like saving water and caring for plants at home. The Waste Sorting Relay built awareness about reducing, reusing, and recycling in everyday life. Finally, the Tug of War (UNSDG 16) showcased unity, fairness, and the power of collective effort. Overall, the activities showed that sports are not just games, they teach us healthy living, teamwork, time management, resilience, and responsibility, all essential for building strong lifestyles every day.
Navratri Celebration
Our school joyfully celebrated the vibrant festival of Navratri, filled with devotion, learning, and cultural spirit. Over nine days, students were introduced to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, understanding the stories behind each Devi and the unique powers they represent. Each day, we also highlighted the significance of the colours associated with the Devi, helping students connect with the values of courage, compassion, knowledge, and positivity.
A special highlight of the celebrations was the lively performance of Garba, Gujarat’s traditional dance form, where students and teachers came together in colourful attire to celebrate unity and culture. The event beautifully blended spiritual learning with joyful festivity, instilling in our students a sense of reverence for tradition while cherishing the spirit of togetherness.
This Navratri, our teachers beautifully brought each day to life by sharing the inspiring stories behind the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Every morning, the classrooms were filled with devotion, curiosity, and vibrant hues as students learned the significance of each goddess and the symbolic colour of the day. From the fierce strength of Maa Durga to the serene wisdom of Maa Saraswati, every tale carried a message of courage, compassion, and positivity. Dressed in the colours of the day, our students not only celebrated tradition but also absorbed the values of goodness, grace, and inner power that Navratri stands for.
Field Trip to Cow Shelter
Field Trip to Gau Shala – Nurturing Values Through Experience
As part of our experiential learning program, our students visited a Gau Shala on 30th September. The visit offered a meaningful opportunity to extend classroom learning beyond the school walls and connect with real-life experiences.
During the visit, students learned about the cultural significance of cows in our tradition and reflected on the values of compassion and kindness towards all living beings. They observed how care and respect for animals contribute to a harmonious and sustainable environment.
The experience encouraged students to demonstrate several IB Learner Profile attributes—they became caring and reflective individuals as they interacted thoughtfully with their surroundings. They also embodied open-mindedness by appreciating the practices and values embedded in our culture.
Through this experience, students also strengthened their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills—particularly social skills through collaboration and teamwork, thinking skills as they reflected on the importance of empathy, and communication skills while sharing their observations and reflections.
The visit truly helped our learners internalize the message of kindness, empathy, and responsibility—values that lie at the heart of our school’s mission and the IB philosophy.

Inter-School Online Literary Competition – A Proud Achievement
Bhagwan Mahavir Concept School is delighted to share the proud achievement of our learner in the Inter-School Online Literary Competition – “Chimes of Tomorrow”, organized within the IB PYP Gujarat–Madhya Pradesh network. The event was hosted by Aarth Universal School, Surat, on 15th September 2025 and witnessed enthusiastic participation from several schools across the region.
The competition was designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and expression among young learners. The categories included Poetry Recitation for Grades 1–2 and Doodle Storytelling for Grades 3–4. Our talented learner, Vahee Lahoti of Grade 2, participated in the poetry recitation category and brought laurels to the school by securing the Second Position.
Vahee’s performance was marked by clarity, expression, and confidence, leaving a lasting impression on the judges and audience. This recognition reflects not only Vahee’s dedication and effort but also the encouragement and guidance provided by teachers and parents.
Such opportunities empower learners to develop communication skills, showcase their creativity, and grow as confident global citizens. We congratulate Vahee on this remarkable achievement and look forward to more shining milestones from our learners in the future.

Exploring New Horizons in Teaching

On the 19th and 20th of September, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the IB PYP Category 1 workshop as a teacher. It was more than just a training session it was a chance to grow, reflect, and connect with educators who share the vision of nurturing lifelong learners.
The workshop deepened my understanding of the IB PYP philosophy and how it empowers students to take ownership of their learning. I reflected on my role as a facilitator, guiding students to inquire, think critically, and explore knowledge independently. I also learned practical strategies to design concept-driven, inquiry-based lessons that spark curiosity and encourage problem-solving. The sessions highlighted how the Learner Profile attributes can be naturally integrated into daily classroom practices, helping students become balanced, principled, and open-minded.
This experience benefits not only me but also my colleagues and students. I can now share strategies and resources, fostering collaboration and creating engaging learning experiences. The emphasis on international-mindedness inspires us to bring broader perspectives into the classroom, preparing students to become responsible global citizens.
Attending this workshop has motivated me to make learning student-centered, purposeful, and inquiry-driven. I am excited to implement these ideas and work with my colleagues to enrich our students’ learning journey.
