I love that art allows me to relax and express my emotions.
Why do our experiences in society and our family lives build or break us? Experiences shared with the people that I love, have had an effect on who I am and the emotions I feel. Embracing these emotions are important to me and has forced me to change over time, whether in a positive or negative way. I have observed different relationships and events in my life, and created pieces that mimic my feelings from that experience. One piece demonstrates stress. Making myself black and white and my surroundings full of color show I have a lot going on around me in my life, and all that “color” consumes me. I added butterflies which I look up at. These butterflies represent change and metamorphism which I demonstrate throughout my art. I enjoy experimenting with different ways I can show my emotions or paths of life. The piece of my grandma was inspired by Girl From Contact Sheet 3 by Sara Cwynar, which shows the juncture of old and new. I mixed nostalgia and futurism through the use of technology by altering a photo of my grandma to show the relationship between the new generation and the older generation. Experimenting with different emotions shows my stages of life and how those stages have affected me and my outlook.
