I love art because it allows me to make mistakes and learn how to embrace them through creativity and imagination.
How does our association with society affect our emotions and how can it be expressed through pattern or in our background?
My work shows how the environment around you can affect your emotions. This includes shadows, patterns, and the background. The background can show emotions and the facial expressions can show their feelings to understand whether the piece is happy or sad. The piece's composition with bright colors with smooth shapes, like circles, can represent joy. Sadness would have jagged shapes like rectangles, in colors such as blue or grey. I use the negative space to represent the inner struggles and how they could be feeling. Many artists including Vincent Van Gogh and Kehinde Wiley had inspired many of my ideas. They incorporated design and patterns through the background and in the figure of their pieces which influenced their portraits to show emotion. The littlest of details can really show how the overall bigger picture can affect how we feel or seem to others.
