I love art because I am able to express my emotions in a creative way.
How are our emotions represented in our personality?. We constantly mask our emotions because we’re afraid of what others might think, but what if our internal emotions were visible externally? I showed emotions in people and objects and incorporated microexpressions, or small body expressions that last only for a brief moment, in people, and symbols in object-type pieces. In most of my pieces, I used Prismacolor colored pencils, which have great color and blend beautifully. I used these materials because you can really add meaning to the piece through detail. I was inspired by many artists, one that I researched being René Magritte. His famous painting l’homme de pomme shows a man with an apple covering his face. I used this idea to express how people in fact do hide their emotions, but still show them. By experimenting with objects or people's expressions in my art, I am able to show the viewer that there is always something revealed when you look into the subject and how not every emotion is masked.
