We live in a society where young minds are taught that being skinny, having long hair, wearing small clothes, and being bubbly makes up the ideal woman, but what really makes any of these things “perfect”? In exploring the pressures of perfection and its affect on women both physically and mentally I took inspiration from Barbra Kruger’s works “You are not Yourself” and “Untitled(Your body is a battleground)”. I began to create pieces that were more general incorporating text that women hear often, but while experimenting I had revised my views on specific issues such as body image issues and plastic surgery in this gorwing digital age.
