What if our identity is defined by the state of our relationships? Since my ideas revolve around personal relationships, I researched by speaking with family and friends and gaining personal insight as to how I could translate emotions into images. I have also researched artists such as Kathe Kollowitz, Francisco Goya, da Vinci and Sergi Delgado for inspiration on mark-making. I experimented with paint and oil pastels for the first time and seeing what intent and emotions I could convey with each, and I am conceptually experimenting with interaction my pieces. Using oil pastels, I was able to give the effect of age, or distortion of perception. I tested out mark-making to see what emotions could be associated with it, and I was intentional with my use of space.
