From this stunning viewpoint you have a birds-eye view of the town of Telluride as well as the San Juan mountains. In fall, this site is ablaze with golden aspens. It’s stunning! In summer, wildflowers dot the landscape.
The site is a reservable, private wedding venue. The fee is $4,000. However, there are free, open-to-the public sites adjacent to the reservable one that offer the same view and there is no fee for those. However, guest count is limited to 5 for the free sites.
What we love about this site:
Panoramic mountain views as well as the town of Telluride.
Wildflowers abound in early to mid-summer. Aspens in fall.
No fee for 5 guests or less.
Potential drawbacks of this site
If you don't reserve the private site, you have to take what you get when you arrive. It may be in use.
Requires a gondola lift to access, which makes for fabulous photos', but it does increase our fees for this site due to the time to access it.
NOTE: The town of Telluride virtually shuts down for the entirety of what they call "shoulder season"-- the period between the end of ski season (usually April 8th) and Memorial Day. Almost all the restaurants and many of the businesses are shut down during this time, so it's not the best time to elope in Telluride.
Accessibility
Accessible for most. Site requires walking over uneven ground and may be challenging for those with mobility issues. It's at 10,500 feet in elevation, so would not be suitable for anyone with respiratory difficulties. The site is not totally flat, as you can see in the photos, there is a bit of an incline.
Access to the site is via gondola which you board from either downtown Telluride or Mountain Village. Your wedding vendors will meet you where you get off the gondola then they’ll walk with you to a gorgeous spot to say your vows!
Parking: Accessed by a gondola, this mountain-top site in Telluride is open to the public and we know of some gorgeous spots there where we can do a small wedding with up to 5 guests.
Access from Parking: Site is accessible (without skis) all year round except for certain times when the free gondola is closed. The gondola is generally open on the following schedule:
Winter schedule - Approximately third week of November through the first week of April.
Summer schedule - Mid-June to mid-October
Note: the gondola does not operate for several weeks in the spring and fall, making this site inacessible during those times. Click here for gondola closure dates.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
NOTE: The town of Telluride virtually shuts down for the entirety of what they call "shoulder season"--the time after skiing and before summer tourism. Almost all the restaurants and many of the businesses are shut down during this time, so it's not the best time to elope in Telluride. Click here for the list of restaurant closings. Shoulder season generally starts around April 6th and can extend as late as the third week in May (just before Memorial Day weekend).
Site Use
Remember! The actual wedding venue has a walkway and platform stage. These facilities are private--you’re not supposed to have your ceremony on the platform unless you reserve it. But there are a number of equally gorgeous spots close by, so no worries if you didn’t reserve it.
