If you truly want the Colorado "top of the world" experience for your intimate wedding, then take the lift to the top of Mount Crested Butte. Once you're there, we'll guide you down a short path to a hidden gem venue that is about as close to the top of the mountain as you're going to get.
You'll be totally secluded in this spot (no one knows about it and the path is not well marked) and the panoramic views of the mountains are second to none. You'll be overlooking the town of Crested Butte in the valley below.
This is our most spectacular, peaceful and idyllic mountain venue location. And there are even a couple of log benches for your guests--if you have any.
What we love about this site:
Mountain views, mountain views, mountain views! They're everywhere.
Summer is wildflower season, and in the fall the Aspens are turning their golden hue.
There is no fee to be married here.
Potential drawbacks of this site
It's non-reservable, so you have to take what you get when you arrive.
Accessibility
Parking: plenty, but we recommend carpooling.
Accessibility: Site is not accessible by wheelchair.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Access from parking: the lift is a short walk (5 minutes) from parking. The lift starts at about 9,400ft (2,865m) above sea level. Keep that in mind for anyone with respiratory conditions.
