This site is a little -known hidden gem in Brackenridge alongside Lake Dillon with panoramic mountain and lake views. It requires about a 10 minute flat walk to access, but the stroll itself just might be half the fun. It gives us lots of opportunities for photo backdrops. The walkway is lined with aspens which turn brilliant gold in the fall.
What we love about this site:
Mountain and lake views.
Four-season venue; it's accessible with snowshoes in winter. And it really shines in the fall because of all the aspen trees.
No fee.
Relatively easy to access for most.
Potential drawbacks of this site
It's non-reservable, so you have to take what you get when you arrive. It may be in use.
It does require a 10-minute walk to get to.
Beach area can be rocky.
Water level can vary depending time of the year, and previous year's snowfall.
Accessibility
Parking: alongside the road.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Access from parking: It's a 10-minute, flat walk from the parking area to the site. Part of the walk is on a dirt path through the trees and the remainder is a paved path. Not wheelchair accessible.
