Gorgeous site just outside Breckenridge with panoramic mountain views, cliffs, trees and a lake overlook.
What we love about this site:
Panoramic mountain views.
It has a stunning backdrop of Lake Dillon as well as cliff-like rock formations.
No fee.
Relatively easy to access for most. The first site is a 3 minute walk over an uneven path. The second site requires a 7 minute walk over an uneven path.
Mostly known only to locals, the sites are usually very private.
Potential drawbacks of this site
It's non-reservable, so you have to take what you get when you arrive. It may be in use.
Parking is limited.
Snowshoes are required in winter.
Accessibility
Parking: the site has its own parking lot that can accommodate five to six cars
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Access from parking: It's a short walk (2-3 minutes) from the parking area to the first site, and another five to seven minute walk to the second site. The path can be a little rocky and uneven in spots. Not recommended if someone in your party has mobility issues.
Additional Logistics
Dogs: allowed on a leash.
Bathrooms: none.
Suitable for children: yes, but make sure the hands of little ones are being held because of the drop off.
Max vehicles accommodated: 5-6. It is accessible to the public, so those parking spots can fill up.
Max number of guests at this site: 10.
Dates of Availability: year-round. It's possible to be married here in winter, but you may be walking and standing in considerable snow. Although it's a short walk (under 2 minutes) to get to the first site, we advise snowshoes in winter to get there as the snow can be quite deep and the path is not maintained.
Type of Site: Public/Nonreservable.
Elevation: 9,300ft (2,834m) above sea level.
This site is not reservable--it is open and free to the public. Please note these terms from our contract for nonreservable sites:
Blue Sky Elopements and Client's assigned wedding professionals are not responsible for issues related to unforeseen closures/restrictions/inaccessibility of unbooked (i.e. Clients do not pay to reserve their location) venues. If Client chooses to be married at a public venue that is not reserved in advance, then it is Client's responsibility to ensure the venue is accessible on the wedding day. Note: additional fees will be applied if Blue Sky Elopements needs to reschedule vendors due to a change in venue.
