A treasure trove of hidden gems for your small wedding, with unrivalled views of the Continental Divide mountains, rolling meadows, secluded ponds, and even a small wedding amphitheater, this park has become our go-to venue for couples that want to get away from crowds while not having to hike any substantial distance to access their outdoor venue.
The park is easy to access and is a four-season wedding venue. In late spring and early summer, wildflowers dot the meadows. The park is covered in aspen trees which turn a vibrant yellow-gold in fall and as a location for a winter wedding, it's perfect--easy to get to the areas with the best mountain views and usually quite deserted. And the mountain peaks that surround the park are usually snow covered from late October through the end of June.
What we love about this site:
Beautiful local scenery all around with a multitude of different backdrops.
Wide, sweeping vistas of the mountains are incredible.
Potential drawbacks of this site
Can get busy in the summer and fall, as it's a popular camping spot.
Dogs and pets are prohibited.
Accessibility
Parking: ample.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Accessibility: plenty of paved pathways around the park. There are some dirt paths as well.
