Offering city views as well as mountain backdrops, this site, located in the foothills just outside of Denver, has a little bit of everything.
What we love about this site:
On a clear day, you can see the Rockies in the distance, as well as a city view all in one site.
Location: close to Golden and Denver and everything that they have to offer.
Potential drawbacks of this site
The park itself can get very busy on weekends. Weekdays are your best bet.
The road leading up to the site can get busy with cars and bicyclists. It can also be troublesome in the winter as it has several switchbacks.
Accessibility
Parking: limited. We STRONGLY recommend carpooling.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Accessibility: you'll be crossing a busy road to get to a dirt trail that goes uphill. This is not a handicap accessible site.
Additional Logistics
Dogs/Pets: yes, but must be leashed at all times.
Bathrooms: no.
Suitable for children: yes, but make sure their hands are being held by someone.
Max number of guests at this site: 8.
Dates of Availability: year-round.
Type of Site: public and non-reservable.
Elevation: 6,600ft (2,012m) above sea level.
