Providing unique rock formations from which there are sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains, there are several overlook areas at this site--the most popular being the rocky outcroppings themselves. But be advised that this area can get crowded. We also have a spot that is "overlook-adjacent" that fewer people know about; that site may give you more privacy for your ceremony. Then we can go over to the more popular spots for post-ceremony photos. The site can accommodate up to 6 people. However, parking is limited so we advise carpooling, or we can arrange for a shuttle van.
The road to access the site is steep but well-paved. Be on the lookout for road bikers as you navigate the switchbacks--there is no bike lane, and this is a very popular bike-riding road.
Add $6 per ceremony vendor to your package price for paid parking for this site. You will also need to pay for parking. Have cash and check handy--exact change is needed as you pay at an unattended kiosk.
What we love about this site:
Awesome overlook that features nearby Boulder as well as some of the peaks from Rocky Mountain National Park.
No wedding permit needed.
Potential drawbacks of this site
Can only accommodate up to 6 guests.
Can be a very busy park.
Accessibility
Parking: about 15 spots in a dirt lot, but they can fill up quickly. We strongly recommend carpooling.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Access from parking: dirt parking lot with dirt paths. There are exposed rocks on the path. Not suitable for individuals with accessibility issues.
