Opened in 1967, this site is an elegant restaurant, tavern, and private event space located in the north Boulder countryside and nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The surrounding 20 acres features two ponds, striking woodland and thriving vegetable, fruit, and flower gardens. The cuisine focuses on seasonal, American classics and is complemented by a 900-label award-winning wine cellar.
It is a four-season intimate ceremony venue, and they offer several sites for ceremonies, including:
The pond with waterfall and to-die for mountain views (informal ceremonies of 15 people or less--no chairs, arches, etc--but the backdrop is so gorgeous, you won't need any embellishments!).
A small, secluded lawn area--just off their sunroom. Very shady and perfect for hot summer days. This site is also surrounded by trees with white lights, so it's also gorgeous in the snow. They will do chair set-up and/or an arch in this location for an additional fee of $275.
The cabin lawn - a meadow with mountain views.
The Little Room--a cozy indoor room that can serve as an intimate dining area for up to 15 or a picture-perfect ceremony area in case of inclement weather.
The upstairs fireplace - where you and up to 20 guests can be married and then dine in front of the fireplace.
The Sunroom--minimum of 20 guests (25 on Saturday nights).
What we love about this site:
It's all in one: you'll have your ceremony in one of the beautiful spots around the site, and then head over to the dining area for a fantastic meal.
It's a four-season venue.
The backdrops for photos are varied: mountains, water, waterfall, trees.
Potential drawbacks of this site
This is not a free site, although the fees are reasonable.
The discounted offer to hold a ceremony for 15 or less on the grounds is only offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. (Larger groups can be accommodated Wednesday through Sunday, but additional fees apply.)
Accessibility
Parking: ample, but we still encourage carpooling.
Vehicle type: for winter, make sure your vehicle has good ground clearance to get over snow, as well as 4-wheel drive for potential ice. For weddings held between September 1st and May 31st, note that Colorado has strict traction laws in place that affect what type of vehicle you are allowed to drive in the mountains. If you are planning a Colorado mountain wedding between these dates, please thoroughly read this blog post so you'll be driving the right type of vehicle. (Don't rely on the car rental companies to fill you in on this; our experience is that they don't.)
Access from parking: short walk on a dirt parking lot.
Additional Logistics
Dogs: prohibited.
Bathrooms: yes.
Suitable for children: yes.
Max vehicles accommodated: plenty of parking available.
Max number of guests at this site: 30.
Dates of Availability: year-round.
Type of Site: Private/Reservable.
Elevation: 5,700ft (1,737m) above sea level.
The ceremony site is offered to Blue Sky couples at a discounted rate of $300. (It's normally $800.) In order to book this site, you would have to have your post-ceremony meal dinner here. This site also has many areas for this--depending on the size of your wedding. We like the intimacy of their smallest room ($100 reservation fee) for a dinner of 2 - 15 guests. There are several other areas that are also perfect for smaller groups, or small groups may choose to simply dine in their general dining area.
They can provide you with ceremony chairs and an arch at an additional cost. They also have onsite lodging (for the couple only).
In short, this venue offers everything most of our couples ask for--great food, private ceremony venues with mountain and water views, an intimate space for small groups, a cozy and private indoor ceremony backup location.
