Just a quick drive from downtown and you're immediately immersed in a different world! Quiet, peaceful and harmonious. And the smell is indescribable. Piney-woodsy is the best we can come up with. This park has several redwood areas to tuck away in for a small ceremony and makes for a perfect location for an intimate wedding ceremony.
The site offers two ceremony areas, both within a 15 minute walk of the parking lot, and accessible via a flat, paved walkway.
The location closest to parking is a three- minute walk that leads to a path through a grove of beautiful redwoods.
A walk of ten to fifteen minutes brings you to an amphitheater style setting that provides seating for 20-30 guests. Nestled within another redwood grove, and just off the main, paved walkway, it also provides an incredible setting to say "I do."
What we love about this site:
Fabulous redwoods. And a meadow for a different backdrop.
It has a small amphitheater site that can be reserved or, if your wedding is small, we can tuck into an alternate location that does not require a reservation.
Picnic area is adjacent to the ceremony sites so if you wanted to have an informal get-together with your guests afterwards, we can help you arrange that.
Potential drawbacks of this site
The permit process is a bit cumbersome. They require that someone be at the site by 10:30 AM (regardless of your ceremony time) to physically pick up the permit.
The reservable site requires a 10 minute walk down a flat paved path.
Accessibility
Parking: the site has its own parking lot.
Access from parking: accessible for most. Flat, wide, paved walkway throughout park. Closest site has mulch as ground cover. Further site is dirt with a slight downhill slope.
Additional Logistics
Dogs: allowed on a leash.
Bathrooms: yes.
Suitable for children: yes.
Max vehicles accommodated: parking is sufficient to hold as many cars as you'd need for up to 30 guests.
Max number of guests at this site: 30.
Dates of Availability: year-round.
Type of site: public, reservable.
The site is open to the public and can be reserved.
The amphitheater itself is NOT reservable--only the adjacent picnic area. So, one could theoretically use the amphitheater for a wedding without a reservation or permit. However, if there is a party with 50 people going on in the adjacent picnic area, this could make for a very UN-romantic experience.
Therefore, if you wanted to reserve the amphitheater area--either for a picnic or to preserve the peace of the amphitheater, you could do so for a fee of $120 plus the $50 security deposit.
HOWEVER, if the amphitheater is reserved, it is for the entire day and someone must be onsite by 10:00 AM or the reservation won't be guaranteed.
You can check here to see if the amphitheater site has been reserved on your date.
$5 per car parking fee charged April through October. This fee for vendors is included in our pricing.
$4 per trailered vehicle
$25 per bus
$2 per dog. No fee for guide/service dogs
