This site is a monumental rotunda originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art. One of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, it is the only one still situated on its original site. It was rebuilt in 1965, and renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and a seismic retrofit were completed in early 2009.
For a permit-free site, you'll actually be married in the park adjacent to the rotunda. The main structure itself is a site that requires a permit to have a wedding (of any size). However, the small park just next to it is open to the public and can be an ideal spot for some intimate "I do's." If you prefer to reserve the rotunda, we'll add that fee into your package with us. The fee for the rotunda permit (as of this writing--we update regularly, but the city does not alert us when they increase prices, so this is simply an estimate) is $750.
Note: even with a permit, the rotunda is not reserved for your exclusive use. It will be very congested with tourists and onlookers on summer weekends, so we don't advise ceremonies there during that time.
If, upon arrival, there is no one using the rotunda, it's possible to hop in there for a quick ceremony. However, this should not be planned on; it's just a nice bonus when it happens!
