The venue is wonderfully woodsy--with redwoods, ponderosa pines and mixed evergreens.
The site is about a 10-15 minute easy (handicap accessible) walk from the parking area. However, there is a service road that runs along the trail to the site and drop-off of passengers by car is permissible. So, if you are wearing high heels, have little ones or elderly guests, or simply don't want to walk, then you can have someone in your party shuttle guests in and then walk back from the parking lot.
What we love about this site:
The redwoods are fantastic!
Handicap accessible site: flat terrain, and can also be accessed by car via service access road.
Potential drawbacks of this site
A permit is required.
Dogs are not allowed.
They do not allow events on holidays (including Mothers/Fathers Day) or holiday weekends since normal visitation is increased and parking can become an issue.
Accessibility
Parking: the site has its own parking lot with plenty of spaces to accommodate up to 15 guests. However, the site can get very busy on weekends. We recommend Monday through Thursday weddings at this site.
Access from parking: 10-15 minute walk over flat, compacted dirt.
Additional Logistics
Dogs: not allowed.
Bathrooms: yes
Suitable for children: yes, but be alert for poison oak.
Max vehicles accommodated: parking is sufficient to hold as many cars as you'd need for up to 15 guests, but we still recommend carpooling as there's a parking fee.
Max number of guests at this site: 15.
Dates of Availability: Year-round, but we discourage weddings here on weekends in summer.
Type of site: public, reservable.
Plant life: Poison Oak flourishes and is native in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Its leaves grow in groups of three, with gently lobed edges. The plant may appear as a bush, vine, or ground cover with green or reddish leaves. Many people are allergic to its oil.
There is a vehicle day-use fee for the day-use area and the campground: Regular sized autos ($10), seniors age 62 or older ($9), bus parking 10-24 passengers ($50), and bus parking for 25+ passengers ($100).
Our fees for this site reflect the extra walking time needed for our ceremony vendors as well as the fee for parking.
This site is managed by the Santa Cruz sector of the state of California. The fee for a wedding here is $675. They require a refundable $250 security deposit (which Blue Sky Elopements will pay for you). They also require State of California event insurance. We will cover your wedding under our insurance policy at no additional cost to you (approximately $125 savings).
