Located in the heart of downtown Monterey, this city-run beach offers fabulous views of Monterey Bay and does not require a permit for 10 people or less.
An urban beach, this site is just below Wharf 2 in Monterey. It's perfect for couples who are staying nearby (Cannery Row is within walking distance). It's also right by the Monterey marina, so if you're a boat lover who likes to watch the sailboats come and go, you're in luck.
Adjacent to the beach at Monterey Bay Park, there is a group BBQ area with four tables and a maximum capacity of 50 guests. Fires are allowed on the beach in designated fire rings only.
Note: this site is very crowded in summer.

Additional Logistics

Bathrooms: yes.
Suitable for children: yes, but make sure someone is holding their hands near the water and while crossing the street.

Permits are not required for weddings with 10 people or less. This includes the couple, officiant, and photographer.
Permit fees for weddings with more than 10 people can be rolled into your package with Blue Sky Elopements and we'll obtain the permit for you. The cost is $600. Chairs, arches, tents, musicians, floral arrangements, etc. are not permitted on the beach. Beaches are open to the public; therefore, the public may walk through or occupy any and all areas of the beach – you may not "cord off" the area you intend to use. The only privilege associated with a Beach Permit is the right for a "group" to assemble.
