Our chaperone to student ratio ranges from one chaperone to between 5 and 10 students. This all depends on how many students attend the trip. Chaperones are staff members from one of our schools or district staff within Blueprint Education.
All students must be dropped off at Hope High School prior to departure. All trip participants travel on the Charter Bus or School Van (depending on trip participation numbers).
This year, we're staying at Clementine Suites which has larger suites that can house as many as 8 students in a large, multi-room space. The exact number of students in each room depends on the final registration numbers but in general we try to utilize the 6 person rooms as much as possible to save on costs.
The base package assumes that the student will be sharing a bed with one other participant (again to save on costs). However, students may pay a little extra ($75) to have their own bed in the shared room.
Furthermore, students who wish to have their own room completely, may upgrade for $350 (the additional cost of renting a solo room).
Upon registration, students may request specific roommates. If none are noted, staff will work to place them with other students that they may know or at least from the same school.
All hotel rooms must remain single gendered at all times. At no time can a boy go into a girl room or vice versa. For the purposes of this trip, hotel rooms are designated based on the sex assigned at birth.
No. It is common practice nowadays that adults are not placed in the same room as minor students. That said, chaperones do monitor hotel room access, do have frequent check ins with students throughout the trip, and students are "sealed" into their hotel rooms at curfew. Hotel room doors are checked in the mornings and if the seal was broken during the night, they may lose further trip privileges.
We will do our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions, medical or preferential. Please note that the only meals that we actually organize are a sack lunch which students ultimately pack themselves, and pizza dinner on the first night of the trip. All other meals are paid for with cash the student has been given as a part of the trip package and are the responsibility of the student to locate acceptable food options that meet their needs.
We do our best to make the trip as affordable as possible. Registering and paying a deposit as early as possible is the best way to get the best deal. The price of the trip goes up steadily as the trip approaches.
We do not have any official trip assistance available but we are willing to help students find fundraising opportunities to make the trip more affordable.
