Class overview
I am so excited to begin my 2nd year teaching middle school ELA at ECCA! In this class, we will work on building reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as critical thinking skills. Differing from last year, we will spend our first three quarters in the CommonLit 360 Curriculum. This curriculum will expose students to a variety of short stories, poems, and informational text. We will end the year (4th quarter) in our beloved novel, A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. Students will engage in daily class discussions and numerous writing assignments, including quick-writes, creative writing (poetry), and academic essays.
About me
My name is Katilyn Sanders, and I am so excited to be your ELA teacher this year. This is my 5th year teaching and my 2nd year at ECCA. I am originally from Mississippi, but my husband, daughter, and I have lived in the Eagleton community for the past 3 years, so this school holds a special place in my heart. In my spare time, I love hiking, reading, and hanging out with my family. I am looking forward to taking on this year with you all!
